One of the ways leaders are fighting extremists is by uniting monotheistic religious leaders, so religions are not broken up into smaller groups, fighting and being persecuted alone.
They have dining rooms where up to 150 people eat daily.
"Although nobody stops going to celebrations out of fear, we all have an eye on the door," she explains.
"It is a symbol of forgiveness," explains the rector of the San Antonio sanctuary in Colombo (Sri Lanka).
