In Italy, out of more than 2,000 infected, 52 have died from the disease, while 149 have been cured. Eighty-three-year-old Pope Francis, who has been suffering from a cold for nearly a week now has tested negative for the coronavirus.
Following health tests, authorities confirmed there is no danger in reopening St. Louis of the French later this week.
St. Louis of the French is the first church in the Eternal City to be completely closed to the public because of the coronavirus epidemic.
“Drastic measures aren't always good,” he said. “Don't leave God's faithful people alone,” he added.
The pope also said this difficult time should not be a reason to forget the suffering of the Syrian people.
